* Brand Storytelling With Michael Margolis, ThirstyFish (Chapter Meeting)
Name * Brand Storytelling With Michael Margolis, ThirstyFish (Chapter Meeting)
Time Monday, 02 February 2009, 05:30pm to 08:00pm ET
Description BRAND STORYTELLING: Restoring Confidence Through A Well-Told Story

Disruptive change is the new communications reality. In this evening’s presentation, Michael Margolis will discuss brand storytelling from the perspective of organizational change – how to preserve or revitalize brand equity in the face of strategic shifts. What might you learn from the timeless principles of narrative to guide your company through such tumultuous times?

More than just framing the right “Change” Story, people need a “Continuity” Story. While the future may seem daunting, it’s important that your company remains true to its brand’s essence. In this context, Michael will discuss the role of “Origin” Stories and other narrative devices that can increase the success rate of high-stakes initiatives.

Michael Margolis, president of THIRSTY-FISH,is a pioneer in the field of brand storytelling, offering more than a decade of learning at the intersection of cultural anthropology and business innovation. He enables clients to achieve strategic shifts through the power of a well-crafted story. Since 2002, he has helped to re-position brands, improve stakeholder perceptions, and deliver on high-stakes initiatives. His boutique consulting firm THIRSTY-FISH has worked with a diverse range of large and mid-size clients including AARP, Ernst & Young, Marriott, NASA, PBS, The Nature Conservancy and YWCA.

Michael is a contributing author to the leading compendium on strategic storytelling, “Wake Me Up When the Data is Over: How Organizations Use Stories to Drive Results” (Jossey-Bass, 2006). He also writes the blog PopAnthropology.com. Michael presents around the world on the topic of brand storytelling, Gen Y marketing, and social innovation.

Previously, Michael was a social entrepreneur working at the intersection of business and social issues. In the late 90s, he co-founded two national nonprofits focused on issues related to public service, the Talent Economy, and the Digital Divide.
