MENG-Northern California Chapter Meeting: Thursday, July 20, 2006
Branding theory tells us that brand equity is a combination of presence and salience. And, today, the brand called YOU has to be present online to further your success in business. Today, it is becoming more and more common for decision makers to “Google” you prior to meeting you. A Harris poll found that 23% of potential colleagues will Google you before attending a scheduled meeting. This extends to executive career management as well. In fact, 63% of recruiters say they Google candidates before making initial contact, and almost half indicated they eliminate a candidate based on their findings. Creating a professional online presence has just become “good business” and managing your online presence has become indispensable to managing your career.
The speaker, Ron Bates, Managing Principal with Executive Advantage Group a retained search firm, is an expert in establishing and making your online presence work for you. In fact, he is the most connected person in the world with over 26,000 direct contacts on www.linkedin.com. Ron is also the U.S. Country Manager for Ecademy, an international business/social network.
